    大家都知道,破碎过程是不会自动发生和不可逆的,必须外力对矿石作功,克服它的内部质点间的内聚力,才能发生破碎。当外力对矿石作功使它破碎时,矿料的潜能也因此功的转化而增加。因此,破碎耗功理论实质上就是,阐明破碎过程的输入功与破碎前后矿石的潜能变化之间的关系,从而明确输入功是怎样耗去的。破碎物料时,它的强度、给矿粒度、产品粒度和耗功,是直接易为人查觉的,因此各种功耗学说都必须确定出它们间的关系,这是各种破碎耗功学说的共同点。但因每一种耗功学说都从不同的角度看问题,所以它们的物理根据和导出的数学形式也就不同。
